How do you take your coffee? Black? With cream and sugar? Do you even drink coffee? Coffee is a very controversial topic in the health and wellness field and I’m not getting into that debate today! Today is all about DIY Coffee Creamer. I’ll be sharing one of my super simple creamer recipes. You can use this recipe for tea or coffee lattes!
I personally love the taste of coffee. I don’t drink it for the caffeine though, so I only drink decaf! While I don’t mind it black, I sometimes love it with some tasty creamer. I typically avoid commercial creamers though, since they’re usually full of additives, preservatives, sugar, dairy, and lots of unnatural ingredients and flavors. Yes, even most of those “healthy” coffee creamers in the grocery store aren’t great for you!
Instead of buying store bought coffee creamer, I encourage you to make your own! You can use whatever milk you want and whatever flavor extracts you want as well! I’ll share the recipe below and some suggested variations.
Recipe:
1 cup unsweetened milk of choice (nut milk, half and half, whole milk, soy/oat milk, etc.)
2-4 TBS maple syrup (depending how sweet you like it). You can also use 6-7 pitted dates instead or a sugar free sweetener like stevia or monk fruit.
flavor extract of choice (1/4 – 1 tsp of vanilla, hazelnut, peppermint, or any other flavor extract you want to try)
little pinch of sea salt
Blender Directions:
Blend your milk, sweetener, flavor extract and sea salt in a high speed blender until creamy and smooth.
Store in the fridge for up to a week!
No Blender Directions:
Slightly warm your milk on the stove top or in the microwave.
Add your maple syrup, flavor extract and sea salt and whisk until smooth and creamy.
Store in the fridge for a week!
This coffee creamer is quite delicious and so easy to make! It’s very adaptable as well. You can easily use a keto approved sweetener to keep it keto/low carb (like liquid stevia) or you can omit the sweetener all together! You can also use whatever type of milk you want, depending on your dietary preference.
Lastly, this coffee creamer doesn’t just have to be used for coffee! You can use it to make tea lattes as well – another favorite of mine! Will you try this out?
