Which do you prefer – smoothie bowls or smoothies in a glass with a straw? To be honest, I’ve never had a smoothie bowl until today! I always throw my smoothie in a glass and run out the door without much thought. But today I made a smoothie bowl – and it’s a game changer!
Say hello to my tropical smoothie bowl – mango banana style! This smoothie bowl is incredibly easy to make, so refreshing, tastes delicious, and is so good for you! If you’ve never made a smoothie bowl before, today is the day!
Pros of Smoothie Bowls:
easy and healthy
unlimited toppings
feels like you’re eating sorbet or ice cream
more satisfying than smoothies (in my opinion!)
great for your digestion
extremely delicious
If you haven’t tried a smoothie bowl yet, I encourage you to give this one (or any smoothie bowl) a try! Here’s the details.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups frozen mango
1 frozen banana
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Directions:
Blend together your frozen ingredients and almond milk in a high speed blender until smooth and creamy. Add more or less milk depending on how thick you want it.
Top with unlimited toppings and enjoy immediately!
Suggested Toppings:
chia, flax or hemp seeds
granola or rolled oats
nut butter of any kind
chopped nuts
shredded coconut or dried fruit
freshly slices fresh fruit
vanilla protein powder (optional – for a high protein meal/snack)
I personally found this smoothie bowl more satisfying than drinking a smoothie – maybe it was all the toppings, maybe it was because I was eating it rather than drinking it (there’s actually a psychological effect there, friends!). If you haven’t tried out a smoothie bowl yet, now is your time! The options are endless.
Pro Tip:
To turn any regular smoothie into a smoothie bowl, simply add less liquid and use frozen ingredients to get a thick and creamy consistency. Add all the toppings and you’re good to go!
