Have you ever heard of banana ice cream? Have you ever tried it? I would love to know your thoughts on it! Banana ice cream, also known as “nice cream” is a popular ice cream alternative for those who want a dairy free, no sugar added option. While it doesn’t necessarily taste like a scoop of Ben and Jerry’s, it’s still pretty good! Especially if you add the right flavoring ingredients and mix-ins.
One of my favorite banana ice cream flavors is peanut butter. You simply blend bananas, peanut butter and a little dairy free milk in a high speed blender and then enjoy! You can also add chocolate chips or top with melted chocolate and warmed peanut butter! If you’re looking for a healthier, dairy free and no sugar added ice cream option – this is for you!
Here’s the recipe for peanut butter nice cream. This serves 2!
Ingredients:
4 bananas (previously chopped into small pieces and frozen for a couple hours)
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup dairy free milk
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)
Directions:
Blend frozen bananas in a high speed blender or a food processor until smooth. Add in milk to help blend/process if necessary.
Add the peanut butter and blend again until smooth. If your peanut butter is unsalted, add a pinch of sea salt.
Next, stir in your chocolate chips by hand.
Enjoy immediately as a soft serve option or freeze for 30-60 minutes and then scoop into dishes!
Top with melted chocolate chips and warmed peanut butter (optional!).
What I love about banana ice cream is that it’s so healthy, refreshing, and delicious. Plus the flavor options are endless! You can make mocha, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and so on. Experiment around with some frozen bananas and some other flavors and see what you come up with! I would love to hear what works for you!
Do you think you’ll try this nice cream out? Let me know your thoughts on the whole “banana ice cream” thing.
