Healthy Power Balls!

power balls.jpg

Hello friends! I’ve got an easy and healthy recipe that can be thrown together in under 10 minutes! This recipe works as a delicious breakfast, snack or dessert option. It’s power balls (also known as energy balls)!

These power/energy balls taste like healthy cookie dough and make for the perfect energy filled pick me up. I’ve got 5 flavor options for you listed below. Pick your favorite and try it out (or try out all 5 like I did)!

Base Recipe:

  • 1 cup rolled or old fashioned oats

  • 1/2 cup nut butter of choice

  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup chia seeds

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Combine base recipe ingredients in a large bowl and mix until smooth.

  2. Pick your flavor option and add the necessary ingredients.

  3. Stir until well combined.

  4. Scoop “dough” onto a tray or plate with a cookie scooper (or roll into balls with your hands).

  5. Store in the fridge!

Flavor Options:

1. Chocolate Chip 🍫

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

2. Double Chocolate 🍫🍫

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 TBS cocoa powder
  • 1 TBS extra nut buter

3. Trail Mix

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips or m&ms
  • 2 TBS chopped nuts or pumpkin seeds
  • 2 TBS raisins

4. Almond Joy 🍫🥥

  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 TBS cocoa powder
  • 1 TBS extra nut butter
  • 2 TBS shredded coconut
  • 2 TBS chopped or sliced almonds

5. Oatmeal Raisin 🍪

  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Recipe Notes:

  1. I used unsalted almond butter for all my recipes. If you’re using unsalted nut butter, add an extra 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the base recipe.
  2. You can use cocoa nibs or unsweetened chocolate in the place of chocolate chips to keep it even healthier!

Diet-Friendly Notes:

  1. This recipe is gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free!
  2. To keep it vegan, simply use maple syrup instead of honey.
  3. If you’re allergic to nuts, simply use sunflower seed butter instead of nut butter!
