Need a simple, healthy and tasty homemade electrolyte drink? This is much healthier (and much more budget friendly!) than your typical sports drinks. It’s basically like lemonade, but way better for you!
Whenever I’m feeling dehydrated or know I’m going to be sweating a lot, this is my go-to! It’s perfect for athletes (of all ages!), those feeling dehydrated, or anyone with a fever or cold. This drink provides the perfect balance of electrolytes to keep you hydrated.
Whether you’re feeling a little under the weather, suffering from food poising, engaging in prolonged activity, exerting yourself, or just feeling dehydrated, this is the perfect pick me up!
Here’s the recipe! Serves 1-2.
Ingredients:
1 large lemon (or 2 small lemons)
1 quart room temp water (4 cups)
1/4 – 1/2 tsp salt
1-2 TBS maple syrup or raw honey
Directions:
Squeeze lemon juice into a quart sized jar.
Add maple syrup and salt and mix well.
Add 4 cups of room temperature water and stir until well combined.
Refrigerate for 1-2 hours or serve over ice! Slowly sip throughout the day.
Tips: 👇🏻
You only need to make and drink this drink for a couple days in a row to totally rehydrate yourself. Try 3-4 days of this drink and then resume the next time you’re feeling dehydrated!
Try adding extra flavoring ingredients to spruce it up (cucumber, mint, orange slices, basil, etc.)!
You can also drink this warm if you like!
