Did you know that the food you eat directly impacts your skin? Our bodies are made up of trillions of different cells. And these cells that make up our bodies are made up from the foods we eat (well, from the nutrients in the foods we eat). What we eat matters, since what we put in our bodies ultimately makes up our bodies! We are what we eat (and drink).
Many people try to heal their skin from the outside in (face masks, face wash, toner, creams, etc.). While these things can play a part in creating beautiful, healthy skin, they’re only one part of the solution.
What you eat (and don’t eat) dramatically affects your skin. If you’re suffering from acne, you might find it helpful to cut back on these 4 foods/food groups.
refined sugar
milk (and other dairy products)
refined carbohydrates
alcohol
While these 4 foods/food groups don’t trigger acne for everyone, they are common culprits. If you’re suffering from acne and want to improve your skin, try cutting back on these food groups for a couple weeks. You can always slowly reintroduce each food (one at a time) once your skin heals up to see if that particular food is a trigger for you or not! We’re all different. What works for your body might not work for someone else!
Play around with your diet and watch what your skin does! You’ll be amazed at how your diet directly impacts your skin. I personally healed my skin from acne in high school by eliminating diary and refined sugar from my diet. And I’ve never looked back since.
I would love to hear from you. Do you struggle with your skin? What have you found to be helpful or not helpful when dealing with acne and other skin issues? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
